Business 183

It has been a pretty good week so far. I have really all of the readings and videos thus far. I have been doing a $100.00 entrepreneur challenge in my business 283 class and it has been going pretty well. I was able to paint a few houses this week. I feel pretty good about the project because I have already reached my $100.00 mark. I have learned that trying to start a business is very challenging, not only on the business side but at home. My normal job I work a set schedule and come. Running my own company I have to work odd hours to make sure my company is doing well. It has been a great learning experience thus far with the project and I just wanted to share it. I really enjoyed Sheryl Sandberg’s e-corner video. I liked how she said that she would never work for a large company and she ended up working for google which is a very large company. When she started there were only 250 employees at google. She stated in the beginning that the leaders of googles mission was to get information to every one. I think like most entrepreneurs that succeed they want to create something that will change the world. I thought that her e-corner video was great!

It has been a pretty good week so far. I have really all of the readings and videos thus far. My $100.00 project was going pretty well. I was able to paint a few houses this week. I feel pretty good about the project because I have already reached my $100.00 mark. I thought Erick’s story was very good. I think that most people whose family owns a business think that they will go to college and eventually take over without having to work very hard. I think Erick’s s story was the exact opposite. Erick was planning to attend college until his father told him that his company lost one of its biggest clients. Erik could have just gone to work and tried to help his father build the company from the bottom. Instead Erick decided to but twenty percent of the company. To me, that showed that Eric had an entrepreneurial mind at a young age. Erick was able to work hard and build the company into a very successful company. Erick talked about-facing failure head on. He said that it was very difficult to do in front of his employees but he had to push through to get the company where it needed to be. I think Mark is a great example of what an entrepreneur should be.

I was a really good week in business 183 this week. I really enjoyed all of the reading assignments and videos. I really enjoyed the talk on your attitude towards money. I made think a lot about my attitude towards money and if money was affecting me a negative or positive way. I liked how the author stated that money is neither good nor bad, it is how we use our money. I feel I have a good attitude towards money and that I understand its importance in life and use it for the right reasons.  I see money as a means to provide food, clothing, and shelter for my family. I think you do not have to have a lot of money to be happy but I feel that having more money does allow you to have more freedom. The mini cases were very thought provoking. The questions were very hard to answer, but I feel I answered them honestly. I felt that this weeks lesson was geared towards balancing money and family. I feel that it is important to spend time with your family. Sometimes it can be difficult when work come problems come up unexpectedly and you have to choose. I know that I will always choose my family over work and money.

It was a pretty good week. I feel that I learned a lot form all of the assignments and readings. My $100.00 dollar challenge is coming along very nicely. I have made my hundred-dollar mark, which I am very excited about. Most people have been very receptive to my business. By doing this project I cant believe how many homes addresses are either fading or missing. Homeowners didn’t even know that they were fading or missing.  By bringing it to their attention it has allowed my business to grow and succeed so far. I think there is the possibility to keep running this business after the class has finished.  I thought the case study was very interesting. I have always wanted to purchase my own franchise. I feel that they have the opportunity to be financially rewarding if you get the right franchise and location. I think going with ICELIGHT was the right decision. I think it is a solid franchise that has proven to be successful. I think that the three guys should have done more research in Florida. They really didn’t have a clue what the Gelato market was like. I still think they can succeed, but I think they put themselves behind the eight ball by not doing their location research. It was a great week.

This week was great I learned a lot from the readings and the videos. I have enjoyed the e-corner videos throughout the semester. I didn’t know a lot about entrepreneurship before this class but I have learned a lot from watching these videos. I liked how Google allotted their employees 20% of their time for the own creative time. I think this was genius. Google realized that they had very smart people for them and that if they gave them time to use there platform and brains they could create something great. The employees did just that. 50% of the products that were released in I believe 2005 or 2006 was from the free 20% allotted to their employees.  This is why Google is a very successful company. I really enjoyed think big. I liked his enthusiasm towards his business. By creating a good business and working hard Taylor Richards was able to create a successful business that landed him in the top ten for boat shops in the United States.  I think this is very important when a person choose the career path of an entrepreneur. Any idea you have you need to pursue it, and take the time to develop it. Its important to know that anything is possible and you can accomplish anything if you think big.

It was another great week. I really enjoyed all of the readings and videos that were assigned this week. I have always been curious about Burts Beeswax, and how the company was formed. I have been using their product for years, and it was cool to see how the company was formed. I think that Burt and Roxanne did the right thing by selling their portion of the company. I think they wanted to live the simple life and now that they have made millions they can still do that. I don’t think Burt and Roxanne will take on another company. I think they are content with what they have. I completed my interview paper. It was a rally good experience. I learned a ton from my entrepreneur and was able to see first hand how a entrepreneur became successful. I learned a lot of important things when trying to start a company from my interview. I learned that it takes a lot of time and patience, and sometimes a lot risk in order to be successful. I learned that if you have an idea that you think that can better the world you should go for it. It was a great week.
